Norma A. Diaz is the Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Group, the oldest not-for-profit health plan in San Diego County. She was appointed to her position in 2002 during Community Health Group’s 20th anniversary year, and has worked for the company and its sister organization for the past 47 years.
Ms. Diaz began her career in health care as a teenage volunteer through a school-work program that placed her at the San Ysidro Health Center. She continued working while completing her high school education and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from San Diego State University, and her Master’s in Business Administration from National University.

In 1982 the San Ysidro Health Center entered into a joint venture with South Bay General Hospital and formed what is now Community Health Group. Since, Ms. Diaz has held many positions at Community Health Group, including Chief Human Resources Officer and Associate CEO, before assuming her current leadership post.

Ms. Diaz has been honored with a number of community awards, including the San Ysidro Health Center's "Legacy Award for Distinguished Community Service," the YWCA Twin and Mentor Award, the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce "Business Woman of the Year" award, the "Latina of the Year" award from the Sweetwater Union High School District, which also inducted her into its Hall of Fame, and the San Diego Business Journal’s "San Diego Women Who Mean Business" and "Business Woman of the Year (Large Company)” awards. In 2018 she was honored with MANA’s Super HerMANA award and in 2021 was named San Diego Magazine’s  Celebrating Women: Nonprofit Visionary. In 2024, Lifeline Community Services honored Norma with their inaugural “Spirit of Lifeline” Award.

Always an active and engaged member of her community, Ms. Diaz is committed to giving back to the community through her service to many local organizations, including MANA de San Diego. She has been affiliated with MANA for many years and enjoys the opportunities it provides for professional networking, mentoring of young women, offering scholarships, and encouraging education. As a youngster, Ms. Diaz was a proud Girl Scout. She participated in the organization’s leadership trainings and other programs and enjoyed opportunities that allowed her to share those experiences with others. When she was 16 years old, she was named the first and only teenage Board Member of the San Diego YWCA.
